Pip value calculator
A pip value is the money you gain or lose each time the price moves one pip. It differs by pair and by position size.

How it works
Pip value (quote currency) = units × pip size. To convert it to your account currency, multiply by the rate from 1 quote currency to your account currency. The pip size is usually 0.0001, and 0.01 for pairs quoted in JPY.
Worked example
One standard lot of EUR/USD on a USD account: 100,000 × 0.0001 = 10 USD per pip. For USD/JPY with a pip size of 0.01: 100,000 × 0.01 = 1,000 JPY per pip; if 1 USD = 150 JPY (an example, not a live rate), that is about 6.67 USD.
Things to watch
- Some brokers show fractional pips (pipettes); one pip equals ten pipettes.
- The fetched rate is the European Central Bank daily reference rate, not your broker’s rate.
- For gold and indices the point size is set by your broker; check the contract specifications.
